Why NOW is the time to work on presentations
4 tips to spread your presentation, not corona
4 tips to spread your presentation, not corona.
We can no longer ignore it, the coronavirus is part of our day-to-day lives. Flights are cancelled, cities are in lockdown and the footshake is replacing handshakes. We are in the grip of the coronavirus, all we can do is try to limit contact and prevent it from spreading even further. Various events around the world are being cancelled to prevent the coronavirus from spreading out into a full pandemic. Major corporate conferences but also smaller business trips are being either cancelled or postponed due to the virus. This is all a big bummer for that upcoming presentation you worked so hard on… But don’t despair!
In this blog we’ll share four ways to still get your presentation message across. Even from a distance, your presentation can be powerful and appealing. You can still be convincing, if you choose the right tools for the job.
#1 Prezi Video
First of all, Prezi Video. An easy to use tool with the ability to have remote meetings and video calls. It allows you to have a face-to-face meeting via live stream, and to display and interact with visuals around you at the same time to strengthen your message. With Prezi Video, you can make your long distance meetings and events feel interactive and personal!
#2 Screen sharing
Second we’d like to address some other, more traditional screen sharing tools. Screen sharing gives you the opportunity to schedule a call instead of a physical meeting. By adding screen sharing during the call you can show your beautiful slides to support and strengthen the message you deliver. Screen sharing makes the conversation almost as interactive as it would be in person. There are many tools available, such as Skype, Whereby and Google Hangouts.
We’d especially like to address Zoom. A really well performing screen sharing tool that offers more. You can even record your meeting! Nice to have when your presentation contains some important, but complex messages you’d like to send the audience afterwards.
#3 Remote presenting
Another way of sharing your presentation is to use remote presenting. Prezi and PowerPoint both provide this option within their software which can be useful during a call. By creating an online viewing link to send via email you are able to click through your presentation while the audience can follow every step on their own screen.
Another option: Slidedoc! Actually, this is not a presentation, but it is a really effective way to get your message across without having to physically deliver it. We often use it as a pre-read or follow up on a presentation. It is the perfect mix of strong visuals and short texts to give the context you would normally deliver as a speaker. Create your Slidedoc by combining your slides and speaker notes into one document by using PowerPoint, Keynote or Google slides for example. It's the only exception for blocks of text in your presentation!
Hopefully one of these tips comes in handy for you to be able to still get your message across. Anyway, don’t forget to test your hardware before presenting to prevent yourself from problems during the actual call. Camera and microphone quality checked? You are ready to go! If you need any help creating your presentation, Prezi video or Slidedoc: You know where to find us.
Follow these tips and stop coronavirus from spreading. But don’t stop spreading your presentation!
